Artist Profile — Az Jackson

by | Sep 16, 2018

Have you ever wanted to quit your job, travel around the world, and take pictures? Sounds great, doesn’t it? We would love to be able to do that, but we have to limit our travel to vacation time here at Fine Art America. Not all of us can afford to travel around the world and take pictures, mostly because not all of us are really proficient at taking pictures. However, Az Jackson has made a career out of traveling around the world and taking pictures, and we think he has taken some amazing photographs along the way.

Az Jackson did not go to art school or study photojournalism at a university. Instead, he is a self-taught artist. Jackson began photographing fashion and advertising about 15 years ago, however, that was not where his heart was. After becoming disenchanted with the advertising industry, the photographer took time out to return to his spiritual roots and decide his new career path. Jackson decided to begin working with landscape photography, but he wanted to be sure that he was taking pictures with a different eye than had previously been done. He began by taking pictures in his native Australia, but has since taken pictures all over the world.

Jackson has many different collections available, so you are sure to find something to fit your tastes, or perhaps you can find a piece Jackson took of a location you have traveled to in the past. Jackson has a collection of seascapes that explore the ocean in relationship to the sky and the land in new and exquisite ways. Several pictures of Bondi Beach, taken from different locations and at different times of the day, explore Bondi Beach as an artist. There is also a spectacular view of the Great Barrier Reef taken from above the reef. In addition to color photography of the seascapes, Jackson also takes photographs that explored the dimensions of black and white within the context of the ocean. In addition to the ocean photography, Jackson explores cityscapes such as New York, Los Angeles, and Sydney. If you like abstract art, Jackson has blurred and shifted some of his photography to incorporate abstract elements.

Az Jackson has won over 100 awards for his photography. He was the USA Landscape Photographer of the Year in 2016 and is a Getty Images Ambassador. His art has also been featured by the Smithsonian Institute online.

If you have travel aspirations, and would love to travel to some of the places Az Jackson has photographed, but you know in a million years you will never take a series of pictures that good? Or you’ve been to some of the places he’s photographed, but your pictures were blurry or the kids got in the way? If you’re like some of us, it’s not the kids who got in the way but our fingers instead. Why not browse through some of his photos and find one you love? Perhaps a collection of Az Jackson photographs is just what your living room needs to transport people to a new place or bring back memories of a fond past vacation.

Wood You Knot?

Here at Fine Art America, we have noticed that people’s tastes change over time, and that recently, lots of people are just crazy about buying photographs and paintings on wood rather than paper. While paper is a beautiful medium for art – do not get us wrong – some...

Too Much Time on Our Hands

Don’t Be Moody

We all get moody from time to time. It is only natural. After all, moodiness is part of human nature. We are willing to admit that we are moody from time to time. For example, we just yelled at Bob last week, because he ate the last piece of birthday cake from...
