How to Make Downward Dog Fun

by | Sep 10, 2018

It is estimated that over 20 million people practice yoga at least on a weekly basis. Yoga is seen as a universal exercise, beneficial to men, women and children. There are different types of yoga: Hatha, Ashtanga, and Kundalini, among others. One of the most popular aspects of yoga is that anyone can practice it with minimal equipment — all you really need is a yoga mat. If you’ve looked around the yoga mat lately, you might have noticed that all yoga mats look the same. Blues, greens, purples — all yoga mats look kind of dull and boring. When you are putting your mat next to someone else’s, why not make it memorable with one of our designs? We have many fun designs to choose from.

Inspirational Yoga Mats

There are days when you sprint to yoga class, do every position perfectly, and maintain your breath correctly throughout. You leave the yoga studio glowing. However, there are also days you struggle during yoga from the time you walk into the studio to the beginnings of the sun salutation until you are relaxing at the end — and then you don’t want to get up. For days like this, you need an inspirational yoga mat, like the ones here.

Inspirational yoga mats can be seen as words of inspiration, such as belief, live purely, namaste or words of love. They can also be inspirational views, such as sunrises, sunsets or photos of Buddha. All of these mats can give you a focus point for your concentration or your breathing. Whether words or pictures inspire you to do your best, you can find a mat that reflects what inspires you.

Abstract Yoga Mats

While inspirational yoga mats allow you to focus and concentrate, other yoga mats, by abstract artists, allow you to consider a shape, color or position on the mat that would also allow you to focus, while revealing your artistic side as well. Many abstract mats can be found here.  If color is your thing, many relaxing blues and greens exist that can help you relax and concentrate. If you want to be energized, bright colors and patterns are also available. Abstract art, because it doesn’t normally use fine lines or details, allows you to find your own design within the abstract.

In addition to the abstract yoga mats, Zen figure mats are also available here. Zen designs and Zen rocks, much like abstract art, allow you to focus on either the mat as a whole, or one aspect of the design. Much like a Zen garden, the mat can reveal different views to you as you concentrate, which can only help improve your yoga skills.

The practice of yoga necessitates focus, concentration on the poses, and breathing. Some days are going to be easier than others to practice yoga. If you are looking for something to help you motivate yourself, or for inspiration, one of our yoga mats would be a perfect point to your poses.
